Summer Cooking Class was a blast! They cooked scrambled eggs, grilled cheese, and bacon!!

Today, our world travelers journeyed to the awe-inspiring land of Egypt! We explored its rich history, discovered elements of modern culture, and even stepped into the shoes of archaeologists, unearthing hidden treasures. On the menu were delicious bites of pita with hummus and a sweet traditional Egyptian dessert called Kunafa. We even created our own kartush by writing our names in hieroglyphics. Where will our adventure take us tomorrow? Stay tuned!

A few more exciting shout-outs!! In May, the Walworth County Arts Council held their Annual Children's Art Exhibition at Elkhorn Middle School. The art exhibition showcases student artwork from Walworth County schools. Each school is allowed to submit 10 artists. Here are students from Brookwood Elementary and Middle School artist that were celebrated at this exhibition as a few were also unable to attend. Way to make us #MustangProud!!

Nature-Based Summer School Class started with bird watching and scavenger hunts. The birds class heard northern cardinals, red winged blackbird, indigo bunting, and red eyed vireo. The foresters searched for things in the school forest that started with each letter of the alphabet. The groups found 18 out of 26! More fun tomorrow!

Guten Tag! Today in Passport to the World, our students journeyed to Germany! We explored German culture, uncovered pieces of its rich history, and even learned a few common words and phrases. To bring the experience to life, we tasted traditional German treats like sauerkraut, Black Forest cake, and pretzels! We also made our very own alpine hats to wear home. Tomorrow, our adventure continues as we head to Egypt!

SO excited to see all our students that have signed up for week 2 of art camp! Our students in week 1 had a blast!!!

The first summer school session of "Shakespeare in a Week" FLEW BY!! In just three days, a band of Brookwood students took up the tale of Tom Sawyer and turned it into a fine Readers Theatre performance. By the fourth day, they were up on stage, tellin’ the story. The audience was all smiles, and I reckon ol’ Tom himself would've been mighty proud.

Today, our summer school class, Passport to the World, took an exciting journey to China! Students explored the rich history, vibrant culture, and diverse landscapes of this fascinating country. We were especially honored to welcome Mrs. Xiong, whose father is from China and mother is from Hong Kong, to share personal stories and insights that brought our learning to life. To top it all off, we sampled some delicious traditional Chinese dishes! Check back tomorrow to see where our global adventure takes us next!

In guidance class, second grade students have been learning about different career clusters and pathways. Recently, they had the opportunity to do some career research and found some careers they might like to do and some they wouldn't want to do by using, Paws In Jobland.

We’re thrilled to recognize a group of amazing Brookwood Elementary students who each logged over 500 reading steps this school year! Their hard work earned them the High Stepper Award, and we couldn’t be prouder of the dedication, perseverance, and commitment they've shown! We are so proud of our growing readers!

BES Summer Countdown - We are celebrating a wonderful school year of "Growing into Greatness!" by counting down the last 8 days until summer break. Please see the schedule attached to participate in Mustang fun.
